How CWA Judges Your Writing
AI evaluation means every submission gets the same rigorous, unbiased assessment.
The Cosmopolitan Writing Award uses an AI evaluation panel instead of human judges. This isn't about replacing human literary appreciation — it's about ensuring that every student's work is measured by the same yardstick, free from the biases that inevitably creep into subjective human judging.
Why AI Judging?
In traditional competitions, results can be influenced by a judge's personal preferences, fatigue after reading hundreds of entries, or unconscious biases related to a writer's background. Our AI panel eliminates these variables:
- Consistency: The AI applies identical criteria to every submission, whether it's the first or the ten-thousandth
- Anonymity: The AI has no information about the writer — no name, school, or demographic data
- Transparency: The criteria are published (see below), so you know exactly what's being evaluated
- Fairness: No networking, no connections, no "who you know" — just writing quality
